ANSU for stringent action against wrongdoers
ITANAGAR, Apr 14: All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) today claimed that it has come to know from business community of capital complex that some of present executive members along with some vested interest persons are troubling business community in the state capital in the name of union. ANSU president Byabang Joram in a press release urged business community to take stringent action against wrongdoers and further he appealed his executive member to refrain from any activities which may carry wrong message for the union and society as a whole.
Furthermore he also asked business community to take legal action if any of present ANSU executive members and vested interest group or in the name of union seek donation without having joint signatures president, general secretary and finance secretary. "Any unions or associations should seek help from the business community and others stakeholders for common cause only not for the personal gains," he added.
Society condemns attack on officer
ITANAGAR, Apr 14: The Jiji Jilen Ao Welfare Society has condemned the attack on the senior APCS officer Kego Jilen who was assaulted by supporters of a candidate at Seppa on April 11 last. Demanding arrest of the attackers, the society also sought ECI's intervention in taking necessary action against the politicians on whose behest the attack was carried out.
144 imposed around Siddhartha hall
ITANAGAR, Apr 14: Section 144 has been imposed around Siddhartha Hall here restricting movement of vehicles other than vehicles on election duty from 5 pm to 6 am until May 15. The prohibition order has been issued by the Capital Complex Magistrate Mige Kamki in view of the disturbance caused to the security personnel deployed to safeguard the Strong Room.
Missing poll official yet to be traced
ITANAGAR, Apr 14: East Siang district administration has intensified the search operation to trace out Mathew Dabi, a poll official who went missing on 9th April from Siine village under Boleng circle.
While talking to this daily East Siang Superintendent of Police informed that a DSP rank officer is currently leading search operation by camping at Siine village.
"A missing case has been registered at Boleng police station. Police along with locals are carrying out combing operation in the area. Till now we have no clue whatsoever about reason of disappearance," stated SP. According to the family source, Dabi left home on 7th April morning for polling duty. He was not carrying mobile phone but contacted them after reaching Siine on 8th. The wife received news of his missing only on 11th April.

ITANAGAR, Apr 14: The Tarasso Circle Youth Association (TCYA) today claimed that the Assam Police and Forest officials are encroaching Arunachal land under Tarasso circle. Assam police and forest officials have piled up stone and bricks to construct Assam Police Camp inside the Arunachal territory, the Association said.
Voter impersonation alleged
ITANAGAR, Apr 14: On the basis of a complaint of voter impersonation lodged by the agent of INC candidate of Dumporijo Assembly Constituency, the Daporijo EAC (Jud) on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner has requested the Upper Subansiri Superintendent of Police to investigate the matter by registering a case against the accused.
The election agent of the INC candidate alleged that two persons have illegally obtained postal ballots and cast their votes in the name of Govt. employee although they were not Govt. employees.

Buddhist community celebrates Sangken festival

ITANAGAR Apr 14: With solemn pledge and prayer for wellbeing of all sentient, three day Sangken festival of Theravada Buddhist community began with beating of drums and gongs from April 14.

Attired in colourful dresses, hundreds of enthusiastic boys and girls thronged the premises of Theravada Buddhist Temple a Vivek Vihar to take part in the ceremonial bathing of images of Lord Buddha. During the festival, people take precept of abstaining from killing, lying, stealing, taking intoxicating drinks and indulgence in illicit sexual activities. People also refrain from doing all form of manual works, gambling and cutting trees.
In the evening people visit to monastery to offer prayer and illuminate candle, seeking blessing for peace, harmony and wellbeing of all. After ceremonial bathing of the images of Buddha and holy shrines people splash clean water on each other and greet for a happy and prosperous new year. Clean water is considered to be symbolic of purity. Sangken is considered as pious occasion to earn merit.
Earlier, the images of Lord Buddha were brought from main temple and ceremonially installed in a makeshift temple to facilitate devotee to give ceremonial bath to the images of Buddha and holy shrines. The three day festival will end with reinstallation of the images of Lord Buddha back to the main temple on 16th April next and community feast. DIPR

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Boleng, who earlier dealt with the situation, has failed to convince the frustrated villagers. Later, the East Siang Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer (DEO) lodged an FIR in Boleng Police station against the leaders of protesting organizations.
In recent development, the East Siang DC initiated a negotiation with the protesters at Pasighat, took stock of the grievances of by Sisen villagers. The villagers, while reiterating their stand moved the DC to take initiative for early solution of the burning problem.
The villagers in a fresh representation submitted to the East Siang Deputy Commissioner said that the villagers have been participating in election since last many decades, but the respective governments have repeatedly ignored the people.
"Neither the Central Government nor the successive State Governments have paid heed to communication problems of the area," they rued.
Sissen village under Kebang circle in East Siang is still unconnected with rest of the country through surface communication which has hampered the economic development of the area.

PPA demands action against perpetrator of crime
ITANAGAR, Apr 14: Holding the INC candidate from Lekang Assembly Constituency Chowna Mein responsible for the death of a worker of People's Party of Arunachal (PPA), the party (PPA) in a letter to chief electoral officer of the state has demanded to cancel the candidature of the contesting candidate.
In its representation to the CEO, the party alleged that PPA party worker Manoranjan Taye, was beaten to death at Lekhang on April 8 at around 8.30 pm by local goons deployed by contesting Congress (I) candidate. Taye was engaged by the party to check wrongful use of money and muscle power in Nongkhon Satgharia village, it said.

"The kind of violence witnessed in recent election has never happened earlier in 20 years of my political career in Lekang assembly constituency. My opponent was indulging in spreading hate through politics which is wrong. I have written to Chief Secretary in this regard," stated Mein..
Taga says allegation cooked up, threatens legal action against the INC candidate
AALO, Apr 14: Reacting to an allegation made by INC candidate from Rumgong Assembly Constituency Talem Taboh, the BJP candidate of the same constituency Tamyo Taga has accused the Congress candidate of leveling wild and cooked up accusation against him, adding that he had never received any financial aid from Jaypee Arunachal Power Limited.
"This is totally a wild and cooked up allegation," Taga said, in a release, and demanded an unconditional public apology from the INC candidate failing which Taga threatened to file defamation case against him.
Taga stated that "This is my 7th contest at a row as MLA candidate. But, no one even my political opponent has never alleged me of using money power in election campaign."
The INC candidate yesterday alleged that Taga had received an amount of Rs. Five crore from Jay Pee group for electioneering purpose, which was published in sections of local dailies, including the Arunachal Times.
Further, the allegation of booth capturing at Bogu, Mega, Reying and Kaying camp is totally wrong and misleading, Taga claimed, adding polling ended peacefully in those polling stations without any poll related incident.

Somebody said that Election time is no less than a celebration. It was right. Being
in a job categorized as "Essential Services" did not deter my spirit to perform the
'National Duty'. Armed with the knowledge of EVM handlings from a day's training
and conducting election was something sort of a challenge for all of us in the group.

The sojourn was no less a tour of the district. At a stretch of five days we almost covered the whole district of Kurung Kumey. The group rather missed the chances of not having assigned duties at places like Yangte, Chambang, Sarli, Parsi Parlo, Damin, Tali, Pip Sorang.
The moment we departed from the dispatch centre, there have been assertions as to how the atmosphere at the polling centre could be. We discussed our own strategies to cope rather than tackle any unfavourable happenings.

Dear Editor,
These days everyone in our state is busy debating about the corruption issues. Others are lost in calculating election result by asking public opinion and doing survey. I am quite depressed and deeply shocked, seeing teenagers of our twin capital city. The use of drugs and alcohol amongst teenagers is now very common in our locality. These boys roam late night in the street. They spend most of their time at cyber café and snooker house, riding bikes recklessly on roads and risking their own life and the life of innocent citizen. They practice all these activities merely for little enjoyment but they don’t realize, what could be the consequences of all these. Gradually their Physical, Social and Academic performances decline as a reward of their ill activities.
We are losing our present generation-
I hope to see positive response from the responsible public and senior citizens of the state to tackle the situation in time before our teenagers completely immerses themselves into awful activities and before it becomes bad to worse.
